Now available from all good record stores, this limited edition 12" comes on white-marbled vinyl only so don't sleep - here's Boomkat's view:
Darkestral Excursions come correct with a marbled slab of prime steppers variants alternating between Dubstep and D'n'B tempos from man-of-the-moment, Consequence. 'Dread Tone' follows in the massive wake left by his recent album for D-Bridge's Exit Recordings, giving up an intensely well sculpted riddim formed from glutinous layers of overwhelming subbass and the kind of percussive craft only achieved by Photek, Instra:mental or D-Bridge. We flip over to find him operating on a totally different level, to our knowledge the first time he's attempted the 140bpm bracket (on wax at least). A close comparison for 'Timeloss' may be the overtly darkside style of Kryptic Minds, but there's an unstable kick/bass synced swing and harmonic sensitivity which outlines this as a Consequence production and guarantees that it should be checked by any lovers of Burial, Pinch or Shackleton.
